Fishing Pittwater – Bream, Flathead and Jewfish

BY: Webteam / 0 COMMENTS / CATEGORY: Bream, Flathead, Hawkesbury River, Jewfish, Soft plastics
The day stayed free of rain so we went up the Hawkesbury chasing flathead and Jewies on soft plastics . The first two hours were quiet , with no bites then one flathead hit and got off before the net could get him . We changed spots a lot trying to find anything .
into the third hour and Chris hooked s nice 65 cm Jewie which we released . Quickly after I pulled in s nice 50 cm flathead which came home for dinner . Perfect size . The gear we were using was – 6/0 hook on 1/2 oz jig head , 5 inch paddle tail , both boom baits , one in avocado and one in motor oil . The leader was 16 lb and 10 lb braid . 2500 size reel and 2-6 kg rod . All light gear for the fun .
There is plenty of salmon swimming around Pittwater , as is bream and flathead . Sunday should be a good day for fishing . Have a look at the photos below and the small size of the bream that took the 4″ paddle tail .
